Pretoria, South Africa, 24 July 2018: The Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Blacky Komani as the Chairman of its Board, effective from 1 August 2018. Mr. Komani who is the current Deputy CEO of the Tourvest Group was elected on 18 July 2018. His two deputies, elected by the Board at the same sitting will be Ms. June Crawford, CEO of the Board of Airline Representatives of South Africa (BARSA) and Mr. Ravi Nadasen, COO of Tsogo Sun.

The Board is happy with the new appointments and is grateful that all three candidates accepted their respective nominations. We look forward to their contribution in taking TBCSA to greater heights, given their experience and their knowledge of the sector that we operate in.

“On behalf of the Board we would like to thank all the members of the Board that voted for us, because of the confidence they have in our abilities as directors and leaders. We would also like to take the opportunity to thank the outgoing Board chairman, Mr. Tito Mboweni whose term ends at the end of July and the previous Board for the work they have done, we will certainly pick up from where they left-off.”

It comes as a great coincidence that the election of the new leadership comes on the backdrop of South Africa hosting the BRICS Summit, which is a great advertisement four country in terms of tourism in general and business tourism in particular. The Board provides leadership for carrying out TBCSA’s primary aim of providing a single point of interface for government to engage with the travel and tourism private sector.
